Bank holiday weekend is time for us to pause. I usually find myself very excited for Easter weekend, there is usually so much for us to reflect on. I must admit I am a avid fan of hot cross buns! I am not even sure why, but I could eat them all day long. I saw a post from French Family Food the other day on Instagram and she discussed the proliferation of so many different types and flavours that you can get these days. I am a classic hot cross bun girl at heart and although I am happy to try new things (yes this is contradictory) I will stick to my favourites. Although I am quite partial to apple and cinnamon too, so I might give those a try if I see some. Have a lovely weekend!

I recently visited the lovely town of Stratford upon Avon. What a nice time I had there. If you didn't know already, it is the birthplace of Shakespeare. It wasn't that far to travel to from the North West and I wanted to go somewhere that had a little bit of history. I had been to Stratford upon Avon when I was at school and to see the Merchant of Venice. I can't remember much about it but that I didn't really understand much of the play as we had read Macbeth in our class! Stratford upon Avon is a lovely place to travel to by yourself. Welcome to my new blog Almost Chic. Why almost chic? Well I am always trying to obtain the elusive ‘je ne sais quai’, but do I actually achieve it? This is my reflections on how I approach style, life, travel and family life with a little bit of chic. I am always looking elsewhere, for the next best place to live, the next best holiday, the next best gadget - especially now, it’s endless. What if instead we could cultivate happiness with what we have? I was inspired to write by some of the other blogs and books I’ve read over the years such as Jennifer L Scott and Fiona Ferris as their reflections on chic living resonated. However it’s always hard starting something new. You wonder if there is any point to it or even if I should start. What if nobody even reads it or even cares? Well I think I will enjoy doing it anyway and, why not? I hope you find something here that you can relate to. With warm regards
